Exploding in Colour at Pucci’s Flagship Shanghai Store
29 Apr 2014
Flowcrete's designer terrazzo floor system Mondéco has provided a sleek white finish underfoot at Miele's exclusive new gallery in Dubai - providing the perfect canvas to put the German manufacturer's high end domestic appliances and other commercial kitchen equipment on centre stage.
Located in the Sama Tower on the Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, the two-floor gallery is designed to showcase more than 80 appliances on the lower floor, and includes a mezzanine level, to cater for a variety of events including product launches, training sessions and live cooking lessons.
A 'Green' lounge is also located within the facility, where visitors can relax with drinks and other refreshments, as well as an open space dedicated to the company's 112 year history, where many of Miele's early inventions are on display and the brand's renowned heritage is chronicled.
The gallery has been designed to embody the brand's luxury, elegance and quality, using a full white setting. Features include a walk-through floor plan, giving visitors a natural progression from cooking and refrigeration through to laundry and floor care appliances.
The Dubai showroom takes its place alongside Miele's other prestigious flagship showrooms located in Berlin, New York, London and Milan, amongst many other of the world's most cosmopolitan cities.
In-keeping with the Dubai gallery's stunning design principles, Flowcrete Middle East provided its high-end seamless terrazzo epoxy resin finish Mondéco, is installed across the 1,800 square metre store, on both levels. To present a seamless finish between the showroom and mezzanine levels, the installation also included the use of pre-cast treads and risers on the connecting stairwell.
Specified in a contemporary, crisp white shade from the Mondéco Crystal range, the floor contains a decorative blend of recycled crystal, glass and mirror glass aggregates in the mix, to give the floor finish added depth and individuality.
This design lifts a room with a light, elegant look, which can in certain environments even reduce the need for lighting - due to the reflective qualities of the recycled content.
As well as creating a beautiful finish, Mondéco is recognized for its durability, excellent all-round wear resistance and ease of maintenance. It can withstand heavy foot traffic and is well-suited to environments subject to food spillage - making it ideal for Miele's in-store live cooking station.
The result overall is a strong and stylish floor of substance, which also combines excellent 'green' credentials, due to Mondéco's longevity and the system's sustainable manufacturing and installation process.
Containing 45 per cent recycled aggregates, the floor was able to comply with the client's environmental standards, as well as assist the project to qualify for LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits from the Emirates Green Building Council.
The floor met the sustainability requirements based on criteria including recycled content - both pre-consumer and post-consumer - low emitting materials (low VOC content), recyclable packaging and local production.
Mondéco Crystal is one of four systems within the Mondéco range available in Malaysia from Flowcrete Asia.
David McNeece, of Flowcrete Asia, said, "The Miele gallery is a unique facility, with a breath-taking interior design scheme, which creates a memorable experience for visitors.
"The use of the Mondéco terrazzo system across both levels of the venue serves as the perfect stage to showcase the brand's up-market appliances.
"Mondéco has the stunning, luxury feel of traditional terrazzo, with the ability to introduce a wide variety of colors and aggregates to the mix for a bespoke floor that really stands up to wear and tear.
"The system has been used extensively across Asia, where specifiers value its ability to offer a fresh take on the traditional terrazzo floor, providing a functional, seamless finish that is built to last - with the ability to take creativity to a new level underfoot.
"Ultimately Mondéco creates a floor for life, with the product looking as good as new even decades after installation."
