The prestigious shopping mall Parc Central utilised a variety of high performance resin flooring materials from Flowcrete Asia to create a colourful, long lasting finish within its car parking facility.

The brand new Guangzhou retail hub has been designed to be a pleasant and calming oasis within the busy city, with 60% of the site covered by lush greenery and water fountains.

To extend the experience of being surrounded by quality and colour to the shopping centre’s car park, several of Flowcrete Asia’s specialist deck coating systems and resin floors were installed. 15,000m² of Deckshield ID was used to create a robust surface across the main car park area and 2,000m² of Flowcoat SF41 3mm Composite was applied within the loading bay area. The internal ramp was coated with 500m² of Deckshield IDSD High Grade to protect against tightly turning vehicles. 

A dark grey colour was chosen for the roadways and parking bays while crisp white and yellow was used to clearly display the signage and road markings. Contrasting red and blue was used to mark out the bay numbers and pedestrian routes.

The moisture tolerant primer Deckshield EP was applied throughout both the main car park and loading bay to ensure that moisture rising out of the cementitious substrate would not cause cracks or failures in the floor coating. Deckshield EP can be installed on substrates of up to 95% relative humidity as per BS 8204.

It was crucial that the flooring work was completed within the project’s two-month deadline in order to meet the site’s scheduled launch. The opening date was set to be just after Chinese New Year, this meant that Flowcrete Asia and its applicator partner had to manage the difficulties of a large-scale installation during the festive period.

A fast track application was achieved thanks to the expertise and quality of the applicator team and Flowcrete products, which meant that the car park floor was finished on time and to a high standard.
