Siwilai City Club, Thailand

Situated on the 5^th floor of the luxury Central Embassy shopping mall, Siwilai City Club is a social club that extends the malls effortlessly cool flagship boutique into an impressive bar, chill out lounge and succession of restaurants.

Designed by Canadian design firm du jour, the urban oasis promises to be one of Bangkok’s most popular social destinations as it brings the beach to the city, taking inspiration from Thailand’s surrounding islands. The open space is split into several sub zones that feature relaxing cabanas, lounges and a stunning sun terrace that encourages customers to sit back and relax whilst enjoying spectacular 180-degree views of Bangkok.

To tie in with the beach theme Flowcrete Asia proposed Rustik UV, a decorative stone carpet system which consists of light coloured natural stones encapsulated in a clear aliphatic, UV stable polyurethane resin, in order to produce a natural looking, attractive floor finish suitable for outdoor environments.

Rustik UV was chosen for the 676m² area as it reflected the natural aesthetic of its surroundings and meant that the new floor would not deteriorate when exposed to prolonged periods of intense sunlight.

Furthermore, Rustik UV’s formulation is highly durable and able to withstand the heavy foot traffic the club will experience. The high degree of slip resistance of this solution also reduces the likelihood of customers slipping or tripping on the terrace in wet conditions.
