The popular IPC Shopping Centre refurbished the floor to ensure that the site was looking its best and that it would able to maintain a colourful, safe and functional surface. Owned by Ikano Retail, part of the global IKEA business, it was imperative that the new finish lived up to the brand’s high standards.
To achieve a floor that would meet the shopping centre’s demands, 180 m2 of Urban Expressions EP was applied in a vibrant and child-friendly lay out. In the Kids Corner area the polyurethane resin finish was applied between tiles in bright pink, blue and green rows. This part of the centre was designed to be a fun place where families could spend time together, which meant that not only did it have to be fun and interesting but the floor would also have to withstand the scuffs, scrapes, spillages, impacts and abrasions inherent to a busy play area.
Three standing sections around the Kids Corner were also coated with Urban Expressions EP in solid blocks of colour, including yellow, blue and pink. The seamless and impervious nature of this system means that it will be easy for the cleaning regime to quickly wash away any dirt, dropped food or spilled drinks and the durability of Urban Expressions EP means that the shopping centre’s operators can rest assured that the colour and quality of the floor won’t deteriorate even after an extended period of use.
It took only six days for the installation project to be completed and ready for the venue’s 15 million annual visitors to walk, play, run and jump across its revitalised children’s play area.
