To contrast with the industrial aesthetic of its exterior and location, the client required a contemporary design for the car park. Sun Hung Kai had enlisted Flowcrete Asia’s expertise and products for several commercial and residential projects in the area, including the Mikiki shopping mall located next to Port 33. Thanks to this long-standing relationship, Flowcrete Asia’s expertise were called upon for this car park project as well.
For the basement car park, 3,500 m2 of low VOC, solvent free Deckshield ID and Deckshield EP were chosen, thanks to the attractive, hard-wearing and fire resistant properties of these systems. Both car park deck coatings are available in a range of fresh colours, fitting the client’s requirement for bright and modern hues of black, grey, blue and white.
Mid tone grey was used for the roadways, and complementary light and dark grey shades were used to differentiate the car parking bays. To stand out against the grey, crisp white line demarcation was also used to highlight the parking bay numbers and road markings.
In the loading area of the car park, 500 m2 of the high performance epoxy coating system Flowcoat SF41 was installed. The abrasion resistance and hard wearing properties of this system was ideal for the point loading and wear that the floor would face in this area.
The installation was completed within two months, ready to provide much needed parking spaces to the public of San Po Kong.
