Often, the first experience of a development is the car park, and One Kai Tak wanted to ensure that this experience created the best first impression possible. For this, Flowcrete Hong Kong was chosen to supply over 10,000 m2 of high performance resin-flooring materials.
Deckshield ID and Deckshield EP were chosen to coat the basement car park, as the correct specification of surfacing materials is critical to delivering a long-term and safe environment for car park operators and vehicle owners. Its excellent chemical resistance can reduce damages of the car park surface from engine oil, battery acid, hydraulic fluid, fuel and similar substances.
This specification allows the system to be installed onto substrates with high moisture levels often found in low-level basements, ideal for One Kai Tak. The positively textured finish also helps to reduce tyre squeal, as well as providing slip resistance and therefore increasing the safety of the site.
A dark grey colour was specified for the car park’s roadways, with a complimentary light grey chosen for the parking bays, to distinguish between the two areas. Crisp white lines were used for the floor’s navigational markings, ensuring that they stood out against the grey hues.
