Selected as the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Macau has welcomed two new Alain Ducasse restaurants and a bar, located in the Morpheus hotel. With Michelin star awarded restaurants in Monaco, New York and Paris, the Alain Ducasse at Morpheus adopts the same concept, serving contemporary French haute cuisine and signature dishes for which Ducasse is famous.
For the highly anticipated restaurant, located in the City of Dreams resort, the client required a premium quality interior to mirror the luxurious dining experience that is to be expected at a Chef Ducasse establishment, and consulted resin flooring experts Flowcrete Hong Kong to help find the ideal flooring solution.
Firstly, 200 m2 of the semi-dry cementitious Isocrete K-Screed was applied to ensure a durable and robust screed layer. Proprietary additives within this system produce an early drying time, allowing for the project to be completed more quickly when compared to using traditional screed systems. This was then coated with 200 m2 of the seamless epoxy resin system Peran SL in a bold orange colour that matched the venue’s interior design scheme.
The colourful, gloss, self-smoothing resin Peran SL created a minimalist, modern and bright environment for the walkways in the restaurant, which contrasted wonderfully with the grey carpeted areas. As well as clearly distinguishing dining areas and walkways, the decorative resin finish is extremely hard-wearing and very easy to clean thanks to its seamlessness, meaning that the flooring will maintain its high quality, polished visual for an extended period of time, whilst withstanding the scuffs and scratches expected in busy restaurant spaces.
The installation took three weeks to complete ready for the restaurant opening in May.
