With the rise in demand for luxury goods in China, international fashion house Alexander McQueen chose to set up its first Asian flagship store, the largest in the world, in the capital Beijing. In order to create the right setting for the exquisite clothing and accessories, the specification for the fit-out of the two-level store was to the very highest standard.

Following evaluation of various systems and samples, Flowcrete's epoxy terrazzo Mondéco Crystal was selected for the flooring throughout. The curved staircases and a unique 'floating' display table top were also finished in the Mondéco system, presenting a seamless look across the store. With clear recycled glass aggregate incorporated into the resin mix, the Mondéco Crystal creates a decorative, eye-catching surface with a luxury feel.

The hard-wearing system offers superior scratch and abrasion resistance to withstand the high levels of foot traffic expected at the store while the seamless finish makes for ease of cleaning. The design flexibility offered by the Mondéco system also enables bespoke patterns and corporate branding to be swirled across the floor in a wide range of colours.

Working to a very demanding schedule ahead of the store official opening, the Flowcrete team prepared and installed the Mondéco system, with the staircases and table top requiring special finishing to achieve the desired look.
