Maritime Xperiential Museum, Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore

The Maritime Xperiential Museum is one of the many innovative attractions at Resorts World Sentosa, the unique leisure development on Sentosa Island, Singapore.

Designed to take visitors back in time to one of the greatest eras in regional maritime history, it is here that the tale of daring adventures, sea pirates and the growth of trade between Asia, the Middle East and Europe is told. The Museum provides fascinating insights into the history of the Maritime Silk Route along the Straits of Malacca and Asia's greatest ports and coastal cites from the 9th to the 19th century, when explorers opened up new trade routes.

In order to create the right ambience at the Museum, Flowcrete's epoxy resin terrazzo Mondéco was specified for the flooring. The design flexibility offered by the seamless system enables bespoke concepts and patterns to be swirled across the floor in a wide range of colours. With heavy traffic anticipated at the Museum on a daily basis, ease of cleaning in accordance with a regular schedule was also key priority to be accommodated.

In addition to its design flexibility and attractive surface, the hard-wearing Mondéco system will provide extreme scratch and abrasion resistance able to withstand the impact of the high traffic environment.

A particular challenge during installation of the Mondéco was the requirement to inlay a large stainless steel compass into the floor. This demanded extra attention to detail to ensure that flooring levels were consistent across the large 2,480 square metre area.
