A manufacturer of Hyundai cars and other light commercial vehicles installed a specialist antistatic floor to enhance its production potential.

Inokom Corporation intends to manufacture 20,000 vehicles per year at its plant in Malaysia. To meet the engineering and production challenges of this target, the company utilises a variety of modern equipment, including computerised processing software, to manage and plan the production processes.

A floor finish able to dissipate static charges was required to ensure that the facility operated efficiently. Static charge build up in floors can pose a significant hazard to production environments, especially if sensitive electrical components, solvents or gases are present.

After an extensive selection process, the Inokom Corporation chose to install Flowcrete Asia’s Flowshield ESD SL (Conductive). The solution effectively minimises the risk from static charge build up. Flowshield ESD SL (Conductive) and Flowcem were installed in a 4,400m² area within a one month time period, finishing the floor a month ahead of schedule and well within the tight timescale set by the client.

The resin coating Flowshield ESD SL (Conductive) is ideal for manufacturing areas as it creates a seamless, durable, easy-to-clean floor that is able to withstand the abusive conditions of production and processing facilities.

Flowcem is a self-smoothing, epoxy cement composite that acts as a damp proof underlayment and provides a breathable moisture vapour barrier between the substrate and floor finish. By controlling the dissipation of moisture vapour it allows for the application of impermeable resin finishes on floors prone to intermittent rising vapour pressure.
