International School Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC), founded in 1993, is the first and most established international school in this most populous city of Vietnam.

Flowcrete Vietnam had previously been selected to supply close to 1,500 m² of FlowSport on the school’s outdoor sports court. The school was happy with the service and products of Flowcrete Vietnam and their approved application partners. In 2019, Flowcrete material was selected once again to refurbish the school’s canteen.

Before the refurbishment, an old stone carpet system was the cause of many problems. While often selected for aesthetic qualities, stone carpets are not fit for purpose in this environment as spillages can be difficult to clean, and the system had begun to de-bond making the canteen unsightly and dirty. Flowcrete Vietnam specified a flooring system suitable for a busy area subjected to regular foot traffic and heavy loads. Flowtex PT, an epoxy screed system, was installed to provide a strong substrate that would withstand the regular foot traffic. In finishing, a coat of Flowflake Kristalina was applied.

Flowflake Kristalina, an epoxy resin floor finish, not only achieves the desired aesthetics, but it also provides a robust finish able to withstand scrapes and strains that a canteen will face daily. The seamless and impervious nature of this system also means that it is easy to keep the floor area clean and looking its best.

The flooring project took only 10 days to complete with no downtime, as the school was empty during the summer break.
