Operated and owned by the Singapore Turf Club, the racecourse, which is located in the Kranji district of Singapore, is considered amongst the best in the world with features including state-of-the-art lighting allowing the Club to conduct races throughout the evening and into the night.
As part of a new phase of development at the site, close to 1,500 square metres of Flowcrete's Naturewalk system - a seamless and slip-resistant bonded gravel system - has been laid to all external concourse and spectator areas surrounding the track's Grandstand building, including tiered viewing bays, where the product has been laid vertically to risers.
The Naturewalk system, which sees a mix of natural stone aggregates scattered over a solvent-free polyurethane resin binder, is a popular choice for outdoor environments subject to heavy footfall and is particularly suited to open-air leisure or entertainment venues and other public points of interest.
One of the major benefits of the Naturewalk system is its seamless application, which offers a more durable alternative to loose stone or gravel and is easier to maintain than paving stones or decking tiles, where weeds are likely to grow between joints and cracks.
The system's weather-proof and graded finish is also extremely slip-resistant, making it a safe choice for the racecourse, even when exposed to high rainfall throughout the wet season.
The renovation project, which has been overseen by leading architects Ong&Ong, has seen a number of new features to the 30,000 capacity site including a fourth-storey extension for the centre-piece Grandstand building as well as improved dining and betting facilities for race-goers.
