Situated in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong New Territories, KCC comprises two office towers, the first of which was the first grade-A commercial building in Hong Kong to receive the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) 'Gold' certification from the US Green Building Council. KCC Tower 2 continues to employ key elements of environmental design, incorporating green building concepts, both internally and externally.
Having already proven its suitability after phase one of the construction, a range of Flowcrete's Deckshield systems were chosen for the internal car parking structure of KCC Tower 2.
Deckshield LBD, a fully trafficable, flexible polyurethane coating, was chosen for the lowest level of the car park. The Deckshield LBD system contains a damp proof membrane that acts as a barrier to rising moisture making it ideal for the basement level of any internal structure where moisture can rise through untreated substrates.
Flowcrete's well-established Deckshield ID was specified for all other levels of the car park. Deckshield ID is a Green Label certified coating system, widely used for internal decks of car park structures. The system provides a colourful and protective coating, which is both attractive and hard-wearing. Deckshield ID can also provide an anti-slip surface, as well as being resistant to harmful mechanical oils.
For the internal ramps, Flowcrete Asia's Deckshield IDSD was chosen. The system, which has been specifically designed for use on steep or circular internal ramps, provides a watertight, abrasion resistant and slip resistant deck coating.
Reflective markings were then applied throughout the car park, using Deckshield Linemarker, to ensure visitors' safety.
