Known as PopCorn, short for Popular Corner, the new up-scale mall features a wealth of international brands over 200,000 sq ft of prime retail space. Constructed above the Tseung Kwan O MTR Station, PopCorn is ideally located at a major transportation hub, making it a popular destination for visitors from all over the Kowloon East region.
Flowcrete's Deckshield ID car park decking was specified by project architects, Wong Tung & Partners, as the material of choice for PopCorn's multi-storey basement-level car parking complex representing a total area of 15,000 sq metres.
Providing a protective coating over the internal structure of the car park, the Deckshield system is ideal for interior parking facilities. The polyurethane material is extremely hardwearing, offering excellent resistance to vehicular traffic, fuel and other chemical spillages.
Although the lower basement level of the new parking development showed signs of high moisture in the concrete slab, Flowcrete Hong Kong was able to provide a solution, using the moisture tolerant, Deckshield EP primer prior to laying the Deckshield ID system.
Flowcrete's Deckshield UV Linemarker was later applied across all levels of the complex to designate car parking bays and provide instructional signage to regulate traffic flow throughout the car park. This also included the line marking and signage of PopCorn's top-of-the-range electric vehicle charging bays.
Installed in a vibrant range of colourful shades, the Deckshield systems used not only compliments PopCorn's quirky brand identity, but act as a bright welcome for vehicle owners and visitors to the new shopping mall.
