The new centre, which is owned by property development company Jack Investment, offers an exciting mix of commercial, entertainment and leisure facilities including a shopping mall, eight-hall cineplex, gaming arcade as well as a host of restaurants, clubs and lounge bars.
Flowcrete's Mondéco Crystal was specified by local architects, WOHA, as the product of choice for the ground floor atrium as well as all main concourse areas - representing a total surface area of 7,000m2.
Containing recycled crystal mirror glass aggregates, the innovative seamless flooring system offers unparalleled design flexibility and can achieve virtually any pattern on the surface of the floor.
At the Bugis+, Mondéco Crystal was installed and ground to a depth of 6mm to create an abstract pattern that includes a host of creative colours and aggregate blends. The unique design has also been reflected on the ceiling of the facility and runs throughout the entire development.
Unlike traditional tiles, Mondéco eliminates the cracks and joints that harbour dirt and dust to deliver a hygienic and easily-cleaned surface. Combined with excellent wear resistance and durability, Mondéco is the ultimate flooring product for retail and leisure developments subject to large volumes of foot traffic.
Work at the Bugis+ site also included the installation of Flowcrete's semi-dry cementitious screed product, Isocrete K-Screed, prior to the installation of the Mondéco to level the surface of the floor.
The unusual and inspiring flooring design reflects the purpose of the building - to provide a distinct retail and entertainment experience for both locals and tourists alike - and complements the incredible interactive media façade that makes up the buildings' exterior.
