A leading regional supplier of plastic injection moulding components chose Flowcrete Asia when their original factory floor failed.

Polyplas Sdn Bhd, based in Bukit Mertajam, Malaysia, has a number of MNC customers in a variety of industries - including audio-visual, medical, automotive, data storage, telecommunication, computer peripherals and consumer electronics.

To cater for this diversity its manufacturing centre uses 44 pieces of heavy machinery which range from 25 – 650 tons, 8 are high speed electrical machines and forklift trucks have to frequently move over the production room floor.

Within a year the punishing heavy machinery impacts and daily forklift truck movement caused the original floor to delaminate and substantially deteriorated the unprotected concrete substrate.

To safeguard the building Polyplas decided to refurbish with a high performance resinous floor that would be able to cope with the plant’s demands. To ensure the project was satisfactorily completed the company wanted a committed manufacturer that could give them a proposal for the repair work prior to application.

Flowcrete Asia proposed using the heavy duty epoxy screed Flowtex PT with a 3mm thick Flowfresh MF finish over a 1,021m² area, a solution which won the bidding process.

Applying the Flowtex PT repaired the deteriorating substrate and created a tough underlayment for the Flowfresh coating. This system was installed within five days and created a hard wearing, seamless finish that Polyplas could rely on to withstand its manufacturing process.
