Cairnhill Car Park, Singapore

Cairnhill car park is situated at the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore’s bustling premier shopping haven. Here, the car park hosts vehicles of those visiting the mixed development, comprising of Cairnhill Nine, a 30-storey residential tower offering 268 luxurious units and Ascott Orchard Singapore, a 20-storey premium serviced residence with 220 units.

Due to the extremely busy nature of the complex, the client required a hardwearing and long lasting flooring system for the car park and consulted Flowcrete Asia to suggest the ideal solution.

Whilst epoxy coatings from Flowcrete Asia are generally utilised in many Singapore facilities, the client decided to invest in the long lasting, polyurethane based Deckshield ID deck coating for the 8,000 m² space.

With Mid-Grey being the primary colour used in the Cairnhill car park, bright yellow was used to highlight safe walk zones for pedestrians, whilst orange was used to distinguish specially designed parking bays.

In further contrast to the grey hues of Deckshield ID, white demarcation was used to outline parking bays, bay numbers and direction arrows, creating clear and distinct visuals for users of the car park.

With an expected lifespan of well over a decade, Deckshield ID is abrasion and fire resistant, with further resistance to chemicals such as engine oil, battery acid, hydraulic fluid and other chemicals expected in car parks. With regular cleaning, especially after chemical leaks or spillages, the system needed to be able to withstand harsh chemical cleaners, a challenge which Flowcrete Asia’s Deckshield ID could meet with ease.

After installation, the car park was ready to create a great first impression on visitors of the Orchard Road district.
