The five-storey Raffles City shopping centre alone welcomes 32.2 million shoppers per year, and required a refurbishment to its original car park to ensure a high-quality parking experience for all visitors.
For the car park, 40,000 m2 of the high strength epoxy screed system Flowtex PT from Flowcrete Asia was used to provide a hardwearing base for regular multi-flow traffic. Following this, 40,000 m2 of Flowcoat HS was used as a cost-effective, solvent free coating which provided a crisp and robust floor finish.
The client was able to utilise blue, grey, white and red hues of Flowcoat HS to zone the car park effectively. To ensure pedestrian safety, dark red and white stripes were used for a zebra crossing whilst white footprints identified a safe-walking zone. White demarcation was also used for the arrows on the roadways whilst a blue coloured Flowcoat HS separated certain parking bays from others.
To ensure the safety of those using the car park, the floor coating was chemical resistant meaning that oil, petrol or other chemical substances would not lead to floor failure. The abrasion resistance of Flowcoat HS also meant that the flooring could withstand the high volume of footfall and wheeled traffic over extended periods of time.
The refurbishment project was completed to the client’s high standards and the car park was ready to welcome visitors to Raffles City complex.
