The Trade and Industry Tower consists of 22 storeys above ground and a basement, accommodating an office tower for 13 government departments and a low-rise multi-purpose community hall designed for use by the local District Council.
The building is located at the northern part of the ex-airport apron in the Kai Tak District which is in a process of fast transformation / gentrification.
4,500 square metres of Deckshield ID were specified for use in the basement parking facility due to the product’s excellent track record and sustainability benefits; being solvent free, low VOC and Singapore Green Label certified.
Deckshield ID’s combination of aesthetics and durability was ideally suited to the project. The hardwearing nature of the system ensures the product can maintain its seamless finish and crisp colour despite the abusive conditions of a car park, which includes exposure to heavy rubber-wheeled vehicular traffic, water ingress and corrosive automotive oils.
Deckshield EP, a solvent free epoxy primer, was also used in conjunction with the Deckshield ID system on account of its application suitability on cementitious substrates that have a relative humidity up to 95% (to BS 8204).
The Trade and Industry Tower is LEED® certified to Platinum level as a demonstration project for sustainability and in addition its Platinum rating in the Provisional Assessment Stage of the Building Environmental Assessment Method (BEAM Plus).
