Flowcrete Hong Kong is delighted to announce the launch of a new Lunch & Learn Seminar Programme designed to guide architects, engineers and Design-Build firms involved in the construction and refurbishment of commercial venues, institutional buildings and multi-storey parking facilities through the floor specification process.

Three seminars are now available from Flowcrete Hong Kong, addressing three different areas of floor and sub-floor construction. Flowcrete Hong Kong will deliver these seminars on-site at the client’s premises and will provide a full working lunch for all attending delegates.

The first entitled ‘Decorative Resin Flooring for Public Areas’ covers a wide range of the different resinous flooring materials recommended for use in public areas subject to large volumes of footfall such as shopping malls, leisure complexes and entertainment venues.

Exploring performance criteria such as wear resistance, slip resistance and durability, Flowcrete Hong Kong’s expert team will guide delegates through the various resilient and protective floor solutions available on the market; addressing their unique benefits and cost efficiencies. This includes seamless terrazzo; flake and quartz flooring as well as resin-bound stone carpet systems that can be used both internally and externally.

A second seminar from the global flooring manufacturer addresses issues that may not be as obvious, looking at challenges and opportunities to deliver extra time or even cost efficiencies through the sub-floor with the use of proprietary screed systems.

Screeds are hidden away and less visible than many other construction products, but nevertheless have a vital role to play within the construction sector – in both new-build and refurbishment developments.

Modern construction programmes place great demands on the products they use and today’s floor screed systems are no exception, needing to be fast, strong, safe and able to cope with the rigorous techniques and methods undertaken throughout the world.

Entitled ‘Floor Screeds – How To Avoid Failure’ Flowcrete Hong Kong’s presentation outlines the different types of floor screeds and their applications, identifies areas of failure, and offers advice on the avoidance of problems. The seminar also offers recommendations for the correct specification of sand and cement based screeds.

The latest addition to Flowcrete Hong Kong’s Lunch & Learn seminar portfolio focuses on the construction and refurbishment of multi-storey car parking structures that can include the use of basement level decks as well as those exposed to the elements year round.

Outlining the criteria that should be used when selecting a car park decking material, the seminar entitled ‘Car Park Decking- Protection, Strength & Aesthetics’ explores the methods used to test deck membranes and provides recommendations regarding systems design for each deck and conjoining ramps and loading bays.

Flowcrete has carved out a niche as a key player in the Hong Kong deck coatings market, counting Discovery Park, the Dynasty, Bank of China Tower, Queen Mary Hospital and The Wings among some of the most recent projects to have received decking materials from the manufacturer.

The Deckshield range, which is highly chemical, fire and slip resistant, has been designed to meet contemporary requirements for upmarket car park environments, helping to enhance visual appearance, improve light reflectivity, reduce noise from tyre squeal and prevent water ingress into concrete structures.

The seminar also includes details of a brand new decking system available from Flowcrete Hong Kong, Deckshield RI, which has been specifically designed for renovating internal car parking decks.

Deckshield RI is a low VOC, solvent free, flexible polyurethane deck coating system providing a colourful watertight, hardwearing surface. The material is fire resistant, hairline crack resistant and will not yellow under UV exposure if installed in conjunction with an aliphatic topcoat.
